Meet my new man

This one will not go chasing after other women (chiefly because he will be neutered). He will be both handsome and cuddly. He will not expect cordon bleu cooking and will be happy with dinner from a tin. He won't mind sleeping on the floor. Obviously lack of opposable thumbs means he will not be able to open a wine bottle for me but I am sure he can be trained to bring snacks. He will listen sympathetically and not interupt. He will have low Christmas present expectations, indeed low all round present expectations. He will do as he is told!
He is moving in in four weeks. Can't wait.

  1. Aw, adorable. Has he a name yet? Bring snacks? He should be able to bring the wine bottle, or he's gonna have to go :)

  2. So this is the kind with opposable thumbs, who goes by Chardonnay, yes? Otherwise I'm going to be just a tad disappointed.

Lovely, wrinkly thing. Congrats on the addition!

  3. I just refuse to believe what you've actually written there. This one must have opposable thumbs, yes? Yes?

  4. how sweet! he looks wonderful! are you sure you want him to sleep on the floor? ;-) my husband said that vigdis was to sleep in her basket - it lasted 4 weeks...

  5. iasa - you are so right. Maybe I can invent a tray harness contraption so he can carry drinks and snacks. May be at a party he could circulate with canapes and cocktails? Or am I getting carried away?
Ext - sadly no opposable thumbs. I tried honest. Breeder seemed to think I was a looney.
Kristina - :-) I know I know. I'll let you know how long I last before I crack...

  7. I have this vision now of you playing tug of war with the pup. You holding a bottle of wine and him tugging on the corkscrew.

  8. lol - you know what it might just work....

  9. What a love! What's his name?

Even if he can't open the bottle, I'm sure he can be trained to pour, can't he? Maybe you'll be forced to drink wine from a box and he can just punch a hole with his little toothie and you can suck the wine right out. I'm just sayin...

  10. Iasa - That is almost like him having what will from now on be referred to as OT because it keeps coming up.

And SG - Breeders are loony themselves. If they're so intent on breeding a dog without most of its tail they should be able to come by a breed with some OT as well. This is my political position.

What IS the name of the pup though?

    Chardonnay?

  11. So many training options I hadn't thought of...pouring wine. Thanks Muse. Must check if its in recently acquired puppy training book...
Breeder (take the point about them all being loonies) calls him Diesel. He will probably be Bix (because he is a wheaten terrier - wheatabix - geddit?)
Ext - thanks for OT abbreviation - I am sure it will reoccur.

  13. I couldn't agree more iasa. And I'm not sharing my Char Do Nayyy with the neighbours. They can get their own.
